Lillian Chu is a partner and trial attorney at Zweiback, Fiset & Zalduendo LLP. Lillian defends individuals and corporations in all stages of federal and state criminal investigations, prosecutions, and appeals, as well as internal investigations and related civil matters. She has represented clients facing government investigations and defended criminal and civil actions involving healthcare fraud, insider trading, embezzlement, kickbacks, bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, tax evasion, securities violations, money laundering, public corruption, domestic terrorism, and drug trafficking conspiracies.
Prior to joining ZFZ, Lillian was a trial attorney with the Federal Public Defender’s Office for Central District of California. There, she represented defendants in federal criminal cases and first-chaired trials in the Central District of California and District of Columbia. As a Deputy Federal Public Defender, Lillian won several dispositive motions resulting in charges being dismissed against her clients. She also successfully obtained diversion for many clients, both pretrial and post-guilty plea.
Lillian previously worked at global and national law firms, where she represented individuals and corporations on both the plaintiff and defense side in white collar and complex civil litigation. At these firms, Lillian represented individuals and companies in civil actions involving healthcare fraud, kickbacks, civil RICO, investment schemes, consumer class actions, and civil rights actions. She also successfully managed high-stakes internal investigations involving significant criminal exposure for companies and their employees.
Lillian is a member of the Loyola Law School Board of Governors. She has also served for over a decade on the Board of Directors of APAIT, an organization that provides HIV/AIDS, homelessness, mental health, addiction, and LGTBQ+ social services in Los Angeles and Orange County. Beyond her pro bono work, Lillian is currently serving as a commissioner on the Commission for Judicial Nominees Evaluation for the California State Bar.
